Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Glancebar application ("Glancebar", "the app") and the Glancebar website (glancebar.app) handle information. Glancebar is an independent application developed and operated by Max Singer ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, contact us at maxsinger27@gmail.com.
Glancebar is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Google LLC. "Google", "Gmail", "Google Drive", and "Google Calendar" are trademarks of Google LLC, used here only to describe the services Glancebar connects to at your request.
The short version
Glancebar has no servers and no backend. It runs entirely on your Mac. Your Google data moves directly between your device and Google. We never receive, store, or transmit your email, files, calendar, or account content, and we do not use analytics or tracking in the app.
Google user data we access, and why
With your explicit authorization through Google's standard OAuth consent screen, Glancebar requests the following scopes. All access happens directly between your Mac and Google's APIs — the data is processed only on your device:
openid, email, profile— to identify the signed-in Google account and label it (your email address and display name).gmail.modify— to read the messages and metadata you choose to view in Glancebar, and to change message/label state at your request (e.g. mark as read, archive). This scope does not permit permanent deletion, and Glancebar does not delete your mail.gmail.compose— to create reply drafts in your mailbox. Glancebar only ever creates drafts; it never sends, and it does not send mail automatically.drive.file— a per-file scope limited to files you create or upload through Glancebar. We use it to upload files you drag in and to list the files Glancebar has added. Glancebar cannot see, read, or modify the rest of your Google Drive.calendar.readonly— to read and display your upcoming calendar events. Read-only; Glancebar cannot change your calendar.
Glancebar accesses this data only when you open the relevant view and only to provide the feature in front of you. It does not run in the background collecting data.
How we share Google user data
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your Google user data to anyone. It is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate (we operate none), and it is never sent to any third-party analytics, advertising, or AI service. The only parties that ever receive this data are you and Google.
Where data is stored
- OAuth access/refresh tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on your device, one entry per account.
- Non-sensitive account info (email, display name) is kept in the app's local preferences on your device.
- No data is sent to us or to any third party operated by us. We have no database.
AI processing
Email summaries and draft replies are generated on-device using Apple Intelligence (Apple's on-device foundation models). The content of your email is processed locally on your Mac and is not sent to us or to any external AI service. Apple's on-device processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Google API Services — Limited Use
Glancebar's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above; it is not transferred or sold to third parties; it is not used for advertising; and it is not used to train generalized AI/ML models.
Revoking access and deleting data
- Sign out of an account in Glancebar to remove its tokens from your Keychain.
- Revoke Glancebar's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Deleting the app removes its local preferences; remaining Keychain items can be removed via Keychain Access.
